What’s Your Perfect Jacket?

January 13th, 2010

I have a friend named Lily who is a total mess. When it comes to going shopping, she never can decide what to get. She will buy up to 5 different items, returning them one at a time before going out and buying a different item. I think she has some kind of buyer’s remorse or perhaps doesn’t quite know what it is she is exactly looking for when she is out shopping.

In honor of Lily, I have created a jacket buying quiz to help anyone out there narrow down their decisions and figure out which factors are most important to them in buying their next jacket. Hopefully, both you AND Lily will be able to shop with ease after taking mylatest quiz:

What’s the Perfect Jacket for You?

Whether you need a romantic jacket for an evening out or a snow jacket for the slopes, this quiz will help you find the perfect jacket.

Which Winter Boots Are for You? (Women)

January 6th, 2010

I have a confession to make. I love buying shoes. In particular winter boots. This obsession started with me about 5 years ago when I first moved from sunny hot humid Texas to snowy New England. I think I was so worried about getting a boot that could keep out the snow and keep my feet warm while still maintaining a bit of fashion that it took over my every waking moment. Now, before you worry about me too much, I have found some great boots and am quite delighted to wear them. My obsession in purchasing winter boots has now died down and only every so often do I surf the Internet for that perfect boot.

However, in honor of my obsession, I decided to write a quiz to help those of you out there who yourselves are looking for that perfect winter boot. There are several factors to consider. Do you live in the snow, or just rain? Are you planning on wearing these out hiking around, or just to the mall. Anyway, If you have been looking for that perfect boot to wear in the winter, this quiz is for you. Whether you need a snow boot, cozy slip on, or stylish statement, this quiz will lead you in the right direction.

What’s Your Floral Style?

November 20th, 2009

dramatic flower

Whenever I go shopping for flowers, I am always looking for that elusive magically amazing artistic looking exotic type of flower. I pass by the roses and daffodils and head to the edges of the store hoping to catch glimpse of some twisted branches to give that bit of drama to the vase. At least I want a gladioloa, lily, or bird of paradise. And I don’t want a bunch of flowers, I want just one dramatic flower to pose as a statement when you enter my living room.

Unfortunately, not everyone feels the same way I do, so these types of unusual flowers are difficult for me to find, if not impossible, especially at the local grocery store. Most people want something a bit more delicate and down home like daisys or a garden bouquet. Of course, there are also always the hopeless romantics looking for roses in a variety of colors, or just the uninspired just trying to grab the first thing they find.

Really, what flowers you like say a lot about your personality and vice versa. Based on which flowers you tend to gravitate towards, one might be able to tell a lot about who you are and what personality traits you hold. Want to find out what your choice of flowers says about you? Take our latest quiz and find out what’s your floral style. It might tell you a lot about your personality.

What’s Your Study Style?

November 12th, 2009

studying hard

This photo really cracks me up.  I mean, look at it! I found this on Flickr. Sometimes these photos are staged, but this one looks pretty authentic. And if it is, then who is this poor lady and who snuck up on her and took it? Obviously her coffee isn’t doing her much good.  It brings me back to my all-nighter days.

I remember this one roommate I had in college. She was determined to stay up all night to study for her 8:30 am Psychology class. I think she fell asleep about 7am. She woke up about 8:45 and ran across campus barefoot in her sweats. On the way up to class she had to take an escalator. Of course, she ran up it and ended up falling at the top and her sweats got sucked up into it. She had to rip off the bottom of her sweats and ran into class with bleeding knees, looking like a total psycho. I don’t even know if she passed or not, but the story is probably not that unusual.

How many people are the types that save their studies till the very last minute, making a final heroic effort to make the grade, while others start planning weeks ahead. Most of us, I belive, would fall somewhere in the middle. So what about you? Where do you fall on the study scale? What’s your study style?

What style wedding gown is right for you?

November 11th, 2009

gathered skirt wedding dressYesterday we posted a blog about our latest quiz, what wedding cake is right for you? So today we thought we needed to pay attention to an even more important aspect of any bride’s big day, and that is, of course, the wedding gown.

As far as the bride is concerned, this is probably the single most important part of the wedding next to the groom. Which gown you choose can make you into a princess. Every bride dreams of looking beautiful so her groom’s eyes will light up as she walks towards him down the aisle, knowing that he is marrying the most beautiful girl in the world.

Unfortunately the importance of the dress also can cause a lot of stress for the bride to be, worrying about what if it ISN”T the dress that turns her into that perfect gorgeous bride. There is even a reality TV show about the dress hunting process.

One thing that can help brides get started, before you take all your family and friends out to the bridal stores, is to narrow down which kind of style might fit you best. Will you only feel happy with a traditional ball gown, or do you need something a little more edgy? Well, we are here to help.

What Wedding Cake is Right for You?

November 10th, 2009

red ribbon wedding cake

Everyone has that ideal picture of the cutting of the cake at a wedding. The bride and groom standing smiling and laughing as the cut the cake together. The entire audience watches from the dance floor and from the white linen tables as they feed each other or smear a little bit onto each others faces, giggling and having the time of their lives. But the bride and groom aren’t the only main characters of the reception. What about the cake?

Although the most traditional cake that comes to mind is a white tiered cake with beautiful elegant piping, cakes today have really branced out a lot more from that traditional style. Today, not only can you get cakes in different colors and shapes, you can even skip the cake altogther and do a cupcake tower, chocolate fountain, or even something more daring. Of course, just because these options are there doesn’t mean that you should take them.

In order to find the perfect cake for you wedding, you really need to think about your tastes, what you are comfortable with, what you want to portray to your guests, and how you want to remember your special day. In order to better help you decide, we have created a new quiz for you. What wedding cake is right for you?

What Do Your Accessories Say About You?

November 9th, 2009

red bootsAs I was flipping channels the other day, I happened to stop by Ugly Betty and noticed that they were giving her a much anticipated makeover. They did, of course, keep her braces. However, they gave her new hipper glasses with hint of the famous red, moved her bangs to the side, and gave her more professional styled clothing. When the show first came out, Betty was famous for her outlandish accessories and crazy fabric patterns.

As I was thinking about this, I realized that a person’s accessories really can say a lot about a person’s personality, or at least what they WANT their personality to be perceieved as. Think of the Desperate Housewives on Wisteria Lane. Bree is the conservative perfectionist, while Eva Longoria plays the seductive vixen. Think of their accessories and how they differ. One wants to portray one message, and one the other.

So, what kind of accessories a person wears can say a lot about them. What do your accessories say about you?

What Kind of Spender Are You?

November 6th, 2009

tater mittsI was in line yesterday at the mall, happily holding my future most amazing must have purchase ever… the As Seen on TV Tater Mitt. This cool device is a set of rough rubber gloves that you wear while holding a potato. You then merely rub the potato with your hands and the peel comes right off, saving you time and energy. This is a great invention and something I could definitely use. In the past I would have just gone through the line and made the purchase without a second thought. But this time was different.

About halfway to the front of the line I started to feel a twinge of guilt. I didn’t HAVE to have this great device. I did own a potato peeler. I really wanted it, but could I really afford it? Money is tight these days. So sadly, and uncharacteristically, I left the line and put it back on the shelf.

Before the recession it is possible that some people didn’t even have to pay attention to their spending at all. But now, we all need to keep an eye on exactly where our money is going and how we are spending it.

In this economy we all need to be a little more aware of how much we are spending and how. What kind of spender are you?

How Health Conscious Are You?

November 5th, 2009

junk foodAccording to national polls, obesity rates are higher than ever, as we all well know. There are many differening theories as to why this is the case. Some experts site the fact that foods themselves have been altered and so many preservatives added. Those experts see the answer in organic products.

Other experts site the lack of excercise with so many desk jobs and video games.  Whereas our parents spent there free time outside riding bikes and playing with friends, today’s kids spend their time indoors on the computer or watching TV. Of course, it is the same for adults, as well.

So where do you fit on the national scale?  Do you know?  Or really, do you even care? Are you junk food junkie or a yoga loving soy eater?  Take our quiz and find out – just how health conscious are you?
